29 Chimera Court, Saturday Night
Dec. 16th, 2017 08:06 pmKeeping the yard clear of slugs had fallen to Mitsutada tonight. As someone who only wielded a sword, this meant a lot of running about and in general getting gooey and it was not exactly a task he was taking a shining to after a few hours.
"Saniwa, send me the rest of a squad, eh?" he shouted to sky. "Iwatooshi, the great spears, anyone who could be better than me with this!"
Or just his Date brethren, that would be nice. Tsurumaru coming in to save the day with his smug birdy face.
He really didn't like working at this alone. But more than that, he didn't like getting slug guts all over his tachi.

Date: 2017-12-17 03:39 am (UTC)Hell, Nathan wasn't exactly well on his way to sobriety yet, either.
But just sitting inside marinating in angst while the island was being attacked by people who wanted to end the entire goddamn world seemed... well... it seemed like the exact opposite of what he should be doing. Especially considering everything that had gone on yesterday.
Well.
Considering one thing in particular that had gone on yesterday.
And so, somewhere late into the night, he stepped out onto the front step again, pulled out his gun, and started shooting at the slugs again. That was what he had, right then. Just a cold, numb, calculated aim-and-shoot rhythm, taking out one slug after another.

Date: 2017-12-17 03:47 am (UTC)When Nathan's behavior began to look a little... cold, he decided to trek back to the step and give him a nod. He'd not actually seen or heard what had happened last night, but the radio had mentioned something very bad in particular.
"Have you eaten?" he asked, focusing on the more basic things.

Date: 2017-12-17 04:01 am (UTC)He looked out at the slugs for a moment. "Everyone wasn't kidding when they said this place could get ugly."

Date: 2017-12-17 04:04 am (UTC)That moment was lost a few seconds later, and he looked out at the slugs, himself.
"I've seen it get uglier," he noted. "This is a warm-up. This is something unpleasant on the way to something horrible."

Date: 2017-12-17 04:10 am (UTC)He really wasn't good at gathering information.

He shrugged.
"My guess is they're a distraction. They don't seem intelligent enough to be scouts."

Date: 2017-12-17 04:27 am (UTC)Once you were murdering giant evil slugs on an island where it had rained powdered sugar not that long ago, it seemed silly to play coy about yourself.
Also, he figured it might help distract Nathan in at least some way.

Date: 2017-12-17 04:32 am (UTC)"Of course there are demons bent on changing the history of Japan," Nathan sighed. And then shook his head and looked back out at the slugs.
He shot another one.
"Once upon a time, I probably would have been surprised by that."

Date: 2017-12-17 05:02 am (UTC)"I think we should dig pit traps, it could give us some peace tonight."

Date: 2017-12-17 05:10 am (UTC)"By the time we dig traps deep enough to lose those things in, we'll be watching the sun come up," he noted. It was easier than acknowledging Mitsutada's concern. He was bad at that sort of thing. Always had been. "I doubt I'll do much sleeping either way tonight, granted."

Date: 2017-12-17 05:34 am (UTC)He was most certainly not fine, in a myriad of ways.
"I'll eat when I'm hungry. I'll sleep when I'm tired. I'm fine."
None of these things were necessarily true in the present moment.

"Thank you."
He could actually use some low-effort comfort food.
